It's the first week of contacting professionals in the field and I'm pumped! I have so many people whom I'd love to talk to. So far I called some professionals I've met at the Business Symposium but didn't get many replies. So then I went to the Mechanical Engineering Faculty at the University of Texas at Dallas and went down the list calling professors. The ones who hadn't picked up got a special message in their voicemail(a total of 8 people). I found myself losing hope as I tried to get ahold of at least one person but the anxiety countered those feelings. Besides, considering 3 people had picked up and one of which agreed to an interview, I call that a win!
As I couldn't find many interviews by the deadline, I went ahead and contacted a family friend who works at Raytheon as an electrical engineer. Second interview, secured! I feel quite accomplished right now but I know very well that I'll need to research 20x more to fully grasp the mechanics and the structural design process for building aircraft. My plan is to contact my school teachers for engineers they may know as well as contacting an officer I had volunteered with over the summer. They will be good resources so the sooner I contact them, the better!
Onwards and cheers to plenty more messages straight to the voicebox!
