The loveliest and most vibrant skies present themselves during changes between seasons of the year; the fiery setting of the sun mid-May as spring transitions to summer; the striking ombre of blues to pinks to yellows above a layer of clouds late August as summer transitions to autumn. The most stunning works occur during the transition periods of the year.
As I transition from summer relaxation to researching once again in ISM, I find myself with a renewal of vibrant ideas. This past week, I have read an article on additive and subtractive manufacturing.
Manufacturing is taking a design and making it come to life. Additive is the type of creation where products are manufactured by adding the material to the base and creating a component from emptiness. On the other hand, subtractive manufacturing begins with a material such as an aluminum block, and removes parts of the material to become the shape. An example of additive is 3D printing and subtractive would be CNC machining.
With roots and basic knowledge of manufacturing processes, I am thrilled to create designs I can bring to life. That way, as designs transition into tangible products, their uniqueness and functionality will shine through.
