Well, I just decided on the first part of this year's ISM project! They call it Original Work because the students are given the opportunity to apply new learning that is acquired through our research and create a product relevant to the field. There are so many possibilities as to what a person could do for example a medical-oriented student could create a brochure to put in hospitals or a student studying law can build a packet addressing lawful malpractice. The ideas are endless and that inspired me to what I chose. I'll go over the plan for my own project.
To highlight my learnings in the mechanical engineering field, I plan to use the CAD software, Fusion360, to create a hybrid airplane design model. Then, I will assemble a binder of essays consisting of my design statement discussing every choice I make in my design, a list of components and their budgetary breakdown, a thorough review of this product’s advantages and disadvantages, and an overview of the research I had put into it. The purpose of this original work is to learn the designing process many mechanical engineers must undergo as they create products and to gain skills in designing software. Moreover, it is to put forth this idea of a functional hybrid airplane completely designed and ready to be constructed in the real world.
I can't wait to continue discussing my progress as I work on this project in the future so stay TUNED!
