It is Cyber Monday after the Thanksgiving break and I am pumped to get back to ISM work! Truly, I needed that break mostly to rest and it was well worth it because I am prepared to take on any new assignment(and old). Toward the end of the break, I caught up on a few assignments including the guest list which is 15 potential individuals I could invite for future ISM-related events. I'll go through the list now.
I saved the priority spots for the family, of course. Moreover, I want to continuously express my gratitude to them for enduring my conversations about my future career, thoughtfully advising my choices, and acting as my personal chauffeur.
The next few individuals included my research interviewees. Though I am not ready to select a mentor out of the professionals I have spoken to, I hope for them to come and see how I have taken our conversations and implemented them in my work for this class. This is the same reason I added certain family friends.
These family friends are adults I talk to about careers at family gatherings and although they aren't extremely related to my field, they always have bits and pieces of information that I am able to use in the entire ISM process. For instance, Nimesh Parikh spoke to me about the difference between electrical and mechanical engineering: "If you want to MAKE things that work become a mechanical engineer, and if you want to SEE how things work become an electrical engineer". This distinction resonated within me and I am glad I got to have this conversation so I wish to have him among the other altruistic individuals see how I've taken they're advice into consideration constantly.
My last and final spot is reserved for my mentor, to be determined. I am ecstatic to see that spot taken and to be my guest!
